Chapter III Astro-nutrition series: Scorpio season, feeding transformation & the hidden layers of nourishment ☥ (recipe enclosed)
Before she became fire, she was water. Quenching the thirst of every dying creature. She gave and she gave until she turned from sea to desert. But instead of dying of the heat, the sadness, the heartache, she took all of her own pain and from her ashes became fire.

Welcome to chapter three of this astro-nutrition series..we're deep into October and on the threshold of Scorpio season.. I’m still finding my way with the how — How to distill and portray the vastness of these teachings I gather into the shape of a single post. And perhaps that’s the point: I can’t.. especially when it comes to the cavernous depths of this particular sign..
As I gaze through the Scorpionic monocular, I see an image through my mind's eye of myself standing upon a distant & rugged land mass, at the mouth of a vast oceanic opening that descends into an underground cavern. Tunnels lead into more tunnels, caves within caves, encrusted with luminous crystals & flavoured by fossilised memory and florescent fractal light, dancing in the presence of my peeping eye ~ A deep & holy well of hidden, breathing existence whispering me to enter ~ a siren song, echo by echo, layer by layer, willing me to strip bare, uncover .. listen...and at this marvelling precipice, eyes wide open I meet the inside gate keeper of my 'resistance'.. my fears face me ...and I allow myself to be swept inside..

With Scorpio, we descend into hidden terrain — not a landscape of bright fields or open skies, but of subterranean chambers.
The information I’ve woven together here is gathered predominantly from exploring with teachers in the realms of Medical & Evolutionary Astrology and Evolutionary Herbalism whom I personally resonate with..such as Sajah Popham, Judith Hill, Steven Forrest & Howard Leslie Cornell to name a few..
I intend to offer a somewhat snapshot of their teachings within this deep well of study & ancient philosophy, as well as my own intuitive musings & insight stirred in as a companion for this weird & changing time of collective inner and outer metamorphosis..
A quick reminder before we continue: this is symbolic guidance, not replacement for medical advice. You know your own body & life circumstances, I don't. so please do your own research & ignite your own magick alongside what I'm sharing, check in with yourself, take what resonates, leave the rest. <3

As you may already know or feel if you're into 'this kinda thing' ~ Within archetypal symbolism & every Zodiacal sign is a bottomless well of existential wisdom & guidance (keys). Layers upon layers of akashic memory etched into every pixel, every brush stroke, every letter, every strand of DNA~ Each sign upholding its own micro-universe of frequency and resonant encoding in service to anyone who is called to listen.
The enigmatic and captivating nature of Scorpio (& the 8th house) hold a particularly potent depth of flavor within this universally encoded memory-stew pot.
As an element of deep waters & governed by the two planets, Pluto & Mars~let's think Sex & the Underworld, Life & Death, Magick & Mystery ~ Ancestors.
The Scorpion is perhaps the most recognised representative animal symbol here, a creature that is both feared and revered for its resilience, survival instincts, and the potent venom it wields.
The animal kin who dance in this realm are those who crawl, slither, hide, weave and stalk as nocturnal hunters & gatherers..

By now you may feel a slight tingle of discomfort as the energy of Scorpio bleeds its way onto your tongue and into your imagination..you may be feeling it's essence somewhere within you.. If so, you're not alone & this is where you are meant to be my friend..regardless of what signs you have in your own natal chart.. we all touch, live, express & experience the essence of scorpio somehow, somewhere.. stay here, let the richness of these waters wash through you; taste the depth, and allow the decomposing bitter-sweetness of this sign linger with you for a moment or three..
Trust that there is sweetness here, you may just need to attune to what’s beneath & in-between the layers which initially bring through a flavour of resistance…of fear..
What can you taste?
How does it feel?
And what's beneath that?
The Scorpio frequency carries with it more than shadowy creatures and primal instincts though ~through a bio-medika sense, Scorpio carries the codes of transformation through our digestion.
What is eaten is never simply fuel; it is broken down, fermented, metabolized, alchemized.
Just as the scorpion stalks, captures, and transforms its prey in the hidden hours of night, our own bodies process and transmute the densest of matter into usable vitality.
Here, nourishment is inseparable from mystery. The bitterness of greens, the pungency of roots, the sourness of fermented foods ~these are Scorpionic flavours.
They sting the tongue, awaken the gut, and stir the hidden waters within
Beneath the surface of discomfort lies medicine.
Beneath the decomposition is regeneration.
"Make me good soil" - Sophie Strand

Scorpio reminds us: food is a mirror of death and rebirth. What decays becomes compost. What ferments becomes life. The sweetness you taste in this sign comes not from surface sugar but from what's beneath the surface-bitterness.
Scorpio teaches us that nourishment is not only about what is seen and consumed, but also about what is buried, stored, metabolised, and transmuted.
Food becomes alchemy.
Hunger carries memory.
Cravings whisper of transformation.
What lies beneath the surface of our appetite, our digestion, our relationship to sustenance?

To enter Scorpio’s terrain is to enter the underworld of our nourishment. Here, we leave behind the surface-level chatter of calories and nutrients and step into the cavernous halls where food meets memory, metabolism, and metamorphosis.
Imagine yourself descending through this oceanic opening we envisioned earlier, into that underground chamber.. The air is heavy, humming with unspoken memory. Crystals shine from the rock walls, fractal light reflecting patterns of what has been consumed, stored, and transmuted across time and space.

Fossils remind us that the body(earth) is our ancestry, that every cell carries memory~not just of what we have eaten, but of what we have felt, survived, and shed along the way..
Scorpio’s domain is digestion, detoxification, elimination, and rebirth. It rules the hidden processes ~the way the gut ferments and breaks down, the way toxins are filtered through liver and colon, the way something heavy is transformed into something light. The way the womb as an alchemical vessel, carries the rhythm of life–death–life within each moon cycle.
Here, food is never just food. It is emotional, psychological, ancestral ~spiritual!
Remember: Anything can be poison & anything can be medicine.
This is the cave of Scorpio: The hidden kitchen of transformational magick.

And so we arrive around the Scorpionic table ~ a feast served not of surface comfort foods, but of allies chosen for their power to cleanse, regenerate, and support the hidden processes of elimination and rebirth.
Drawing on the knowledge & wisdom of medical astrologers Judith Hill and Howard Leslie Cornell, I've formulated a bitesize nutritional table that generally reflects this sign’s subterranean pantry essentials:

Here, cauldrons simmer with bone broth and beetroot, thick with minerals drawn from deep soil. Fermentation crocks line the shelves, alive with bubbling cultures ~kimchi, sauerkraut, ginger-bugs. Pungent aromas both sharp and sweet, reminding us that decay is the doorway to this kind of transformation. Dark greens, bitter herbs, roots & mushrooms are stacked in woven baskets, waiting to be ground, brewed, or steeped into seasonal medicine.

A MYCELIA MOMENT::
Medicinal mushrooms like Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum), Cordyceps (Cordyceps militaris/sinensis), Turkey Tail (Trametes versicolor), Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) Maitake (Grifola frondosa), Artist's Conk (Ganoderma applanatum) & Birch Polypore (Fomitopsis betulina) uphold some deeply relevant Scorpionic medicinal energetics here also.
Scorpio rules hidden processes, regeneration, elimination, transformation ~all mirrored in the fungal realm. Mushrooms literally thrive in darkness, compost, and decay ~turning death into new life.

Fungi as our wise elders, teachers and ancient healers..
However you choose to require your medicinal mushrooms, whether is by self harvesting (with the right knowledge & terrain) or by finding a company that grows them organically and who resonates as high quality with integrity, offering them in either powder form or tincture for example.. These mushrooms can be added into your broths and stews, and one of my favourites is within a hot cup of spiced cacao..
A SPELL FOR A CUP OF SPICED MYCELIUM CACAO..(DAIRY FREE)
🜍 20-30g 100% Dark Chocolate
🜍 1 Cup of Herbal infusion already brewed (herbal tea of choice, eg: nettle, dandelion root, rose-hip)
🜍 Pinch of Cinnamon, salt & cayenne pepper (if you like a little spice)
🜍 1/2 - 1tsp or 0.3ml dropper of medicinal mushroom of choice
🜍 1tbsp of nut butter of choice or tahini (I love Italian almond)
🜍 A dash of maple or honey to taste
🜍 A dash of your own personal magick, in your chosen form ~ energetic through intention, a sprinkling of powdered rose or mugwort, a drop of flower essence.. go right ahead and make it your own.
Directions: Slowly (reheat) heat the herbal infusion in a small milk pan on the stove, add in cinnamon, salt & spice bringing to a very light simmer. Turn the heat off & prepare your blender. Pour into the blender (be careful it's hot) ~ When its slightly cooled, add in your Cacao & honey, mushrooms and tahini or almond butter then blend until frothy, thickened & divinely creamy .. pour into your favourite mug, light a candle and just allow the rest to unfold, fall away...

Thankyou for being here x
